With the tight gun laws we have in this country do you really think that gun crime is down?
Nope. We just don't shout it out now. It is hardly news.
hell no if you watch local news ie in london there are shootings all the time were just getting used to it dont make headlines now unless you hold a licence and then its an excuse to tighten the law again

Since when have gun laws meant anything to those who don't abide by laws?
I'm sure that gun crime is up but the Government tell us that it is down. I believe they do this not to scare the sheeple. Kenneth Eames.

NO, simples, REAL gun crime is up by over 120% since 1995, it rose by over 50% in the five years following the gun amendment laws in 1996. The country is awash with guns, its the result of stupid socialist knee jerk gun control measures.

The police will say to you REPORTED gun crime is down, but like with many crimes the public no longer bother reporting crimes to the cops because they know nothing will come out of it. But real gun crime is up.

You must understand that in the UK gun control has NOTHING to do with fighting crime and everything to do with controlling the population so we cannot overthrow the government or establishment. British gun control came about in 1917 when the UK govt became terrified that the soviet revolution may spread to the UK.

As for gun crime itself, in the UK LEGALLY held guns were only ever used in less than 1% of gun crime, most of that 1% being suicidal farmers.
I like to point out that in 2012 the cops are armed to the teeth as are the criminals, and the law abidding public are just victims in waiting.

One also has to consider the cultural and geographic effects on gun use. Since this recession started to bite unemployment has got really bad especially in places like the north east, south wales and the south west. And what is happening is people are now using guns for crime, but there is a distinction, in the big cities guns are being used to carry out robberies, settle scores among fueding drug dealers, killing school children for daring to enter the wrong estate, but in the regions the unemployed and desperate are taking up guns and going poaching. All are gun crimes but you can see the clear distinction.
i'm sure there is plenty of gun (and knife) crime in London and the other big cities but its not reported these days, they are masking it by talking about Greece and Syria and Iran.
I think the idea of owning a gun is more and more appealing. Post SHTF, we're all going to want guns, and lots of ammo. The problem is that TPTB use too many sanctions on protecting themselves. While the GTB (Gangsters That Be) are doing the same thing as the police, but 1 step earlier; arming themselves up.

I know which organisation will give me a gun if I asked nicely haha.

yes, but you will be in their debt!! Not a good place to be, unless you fancy their lifestyle. If you really want one and wish to be proficient in their use & accessories, then do it legit (or practice with a friend who has the kit). As a prepper, you may already be on a list somewhere & oneday in the future, you may get a visit from the authorities. It would not be wise to have an illegal firearm in that situation. TL

gun crime will always be high as it's the easiest way to make people comply ask the goverment!
to own a gun is a waste of time unless it's for sport shooting. hunting is to hard unless you enjoy the challage?
and which ever gun you buy it won't be the same as the police, the army or the criminal, best to spend your money on more baked beans?
