Today I tried one of my preps, A tip I have read many a time I took out one of my cotton wool balls that have been soaked in Vaseline for a week.
Wow did that stuff burn Stuck a few dry twigs on top and hay presto..I had a small fire
I know have 3 lipsalve tubes containing Vaseline soaked cotton wool balls in my BOB, Hardly take up any room and they could be a life saver. I won't tell you how my trying to light a fire with 2 sticks went, Needless to say I need LOADS more practice.

Yep they work well don't they. Don't stop there though.
I keep a small time of Vaseline in my bag.
I've smeared it on bull rush cotton, feather sticks, dried moss, and even shredded string and wool before now with good results so don't be shy about experimenting.
