Has anyone else seen this kind of system in action?
There is something very similar in Totnes.

What would be the repercussions if more and more places adopted this system?

I think that's the whole idea, I'm guessing the locals see it as a way to create local wealth that is re invested into the community.

not really, it keeps the money in the town.
Bristol pound or British pound the locals are just trying to avoid having to pay for a round " Oh sorry I only have Taunton Pounds and Cardiff pounds on me " Smile It would be simpler if that region just went bank to bartering " Oyl give you foive mangel worzels fer your daughter Farmer Scrumpy" ......" Its a deal and oye will toss in a sheep for your Welsh counsin to wed oooh arr "
" Youve got twenty acres and oyve got forty three, Oh I gotta brand new combine arevester and oyl give you the key "Smile
Bristol Chamber of Commerce Meeting minutes Smile
Good idea. Saves a lot of the money leaving the economy from making its merry way to being spent in Eastern European countries.
