just wish we didnt have to wait for post SHTF.
To those who want the seeds now
https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/
got to admit its excellent source of building materials, fuel, cooking oil, medicine etc. be mental really not to grow it once the law collapsed.
Although I can see one big problem with it
youl have to fight off a lot of raiders for a crop like that.
and its hard to hide the smell. (not impossible)
You can own the seeds now for storage it is only illegal when you put them in soil. Post SHTF you could plant them. might want to wait a while till the worst has subsided
cheers for that documentary wildman, always nice to watch such things, another good one if you haven't seen it is "the union: the business behind getting high"

i reckon we should get some resources up about this lovely plant, how to make tinctures, creams, fibres etc.

Here's the basics on extracting fibres from hemp-

You need to throw the hemp stalks into water and keep them submerged for a few weeks and let them rot- this is called retting.

After you ret the stalks, you need a hackle to separate the fibers. A hackle can be easily made by making sort of a comb from a piece of wood and a lot of nails. Attach your hackle to a solid surface (a saw horse is good).

Now you take your dried, retted, rotten hemp stalks and start "beating them to death" by hitting them over the hackle. This separates the fibers from the hurds. (Hemp hurds can make bio-fuel) Depending on how long you keep flogging it, you will have coarse fiber for rope, or with longer processing, fiber fit for cloth.

Then you let your fibers for cloth bleach in the sun for a few more weeks- or use some chlorine bleach

now you've got your fibres, heres how to make cordage out of it

Cannabis is indeed a very useful plant, but for the best rope etc you need to plant Hemp. This is far superior to cannabis indica/sativa for industrial purposes, and is the prefered seed for textiles etc. Modern cannabis culture is focussed on breeding the form of plant high in THC for consumption purposes, this is really not the genus for production purposes. In any scenario where the people can grow what they want it would be wise to have a good selection of industrial hemp seed for processing, and a good selection of "weed" seeds for their pharmaceutical properties. People should also be aware that many (not all) of those seeds you see on places like The Attitude Seedbank etc are mostly sub-tropical species and will not flower outside in our Northern latitude. Hemp can be grown outside in our climate and will thrive on very little fertiliser giving a large harvest of both fibre and seed, and it makes the BEST traditional bowstrings.
