ok if your a monk, but you couldn't grow much food there or have any animals-even small ones, so absolutely useless as a BOL, good defensive position though!
bad defensive position,.... siege, starvation, explosives at the bottom, completely trapped
maybe, but who'd want you? no room to store food, no land for growing or animals, it just wouldn't be worth anyone's time to attack you.

Thats probably true enough..
now, if you put someone up there with a pair of binoculars as a lookout, maybe for a camp a bit further away with a walkie talkie or some form of radio, he could warn the camp of strangers!
It looks like the same place as the Bond film "for your eyes only" where Roger Moore and Topol climb it ....is it ?
