This is the result of a small sentence in one of the books I'm currently reading.
Burning a little cedar wood will repel insects very effectively.
It's not a ground breaking piece of information, but it's well worth knowing.
As it turns out, the tannin's in the bark work to repel insects. So, if you have a debris shelter or are just out camping, a quick blast with some smokey cedar bark will nicely keep you insect free, but also help you clear out your natural shelter. Consider doing a similar thing if you intend to make debris thermals I spoke about in an earlier thread. It can't do any harm to remove insects from the debris.
