Simple: As per our friend NR's advice, live at an elevated location.

I wouldn't want to be afloat in the coastal surge of a Tsunami!
Up high and out the way!
Live at sensible altitude AND at least 10 miles inland as historically tsunami run out of steam within a few miles of coming ashore ( doesn't apply if Gran Canaria lets go cos according to Dr Simon Day on discovery the wave will be up to 600 ft high when it hits the south coast.

The world is changing and we must set aside the arguments as to the cause, the simple fact is its getting wilder and wetter, its complete and utter folly to CHOOSE to live next to a river or coastline. Addresses like Henly on Thames and Stockton on Tees, or Traffford upon Avon are going to become ever more prone to flooding, cloud burst, tidal surges and other climate nasties, and you already know the UK govt will piss away the finite resources protecting the inedible and useless stuff in London.

Try reading Richard Morans excellent novel its called either Flood or Deluge and is a good insight into what WILL eventually happen.
Buy a big boat.
