Kettles, Water heaters (Burcos)Back up hot water.
It appears multiple things conspire against those of us with a self reliance leaning, more and more of our homes ONLY sources of heating water are now the Combi Boiler and the Electric Kettle (unless a sauce pan on the cooker counts?).
As people upgrade their homes they get rid of the old gas boiler and companion electric immersion heater system and replace it with the combi boiler, and also more people than ever are removing their electric showers and using direct feed regulator valve showers that are powered by the combi boiler.
So from THREE water heating systems ( Boiler, Immersion heater, electric shower) more people than ever have only the COMBI BOILER as water heating and the electric kettle. (Thats before we also consider many modern new build homes only have Combi boilers, NO gas or electric fires and often no chimneys).
We are moving away from "not keeping all the eggs in one basket" passing through " all eggs in one basket" onwards to only have ONE egg and no basket.
Now the problems are being compounded by the Federal Socialists of the EUSSR who have now decided that Electric Kettles, Electric Showers and other water boiling devices are not to be severely limited in POWER just like they have done with Electric vacuum cleaners. I personally dont think these low powered devices can meet our needs especially in the back up role. I know many of us have tin or iron kettles and other auxillary water heaters set aside that can be heated on the fire / stove but as pointed out above not all preppers have or can afford open fires, stoves etc or have the space for bottled gas back ups. They need suitable electricity powered back ups if the boiler packs up. (And seeing that most modern combi boilers are full of microchips and other black box gubbins I think they are MORE likely to be needed).
So as a back up using 220volt Electricty either main or genny supplied I thought it may be prudent for those who want back up they may consider devices like these large electric kettles whilst its still legal to buy them.
