So, just out of curiosity, if things went rapidly south, what would you grab to take with you? Not your ready-prepared bag, just one item that meant something.

I'd grab my big Berkefeld water filter (and because I asked the question and I cheat, a box of black peppercorns!).

My small hand tool kit....hammer,chisels,brace n bits ,files,stone ,saw set and one man saw.

the old smartphone that's pre loaded with precious phots, and my electronic library, and various handy off-line apps.

Probably the framed cross-stitch of the US Coast Guard Bicentennial logo that was stitched by my late wife.
