I found this very interesting vid a while back and while these guys are more into exploring it provides as with an alternative bug out option.

Now I know it’s not perfect but under certain situations this could be ideal.

an oil rig? really? what about food once your stockpile is used up? you'll get awfully fed up of fish morning, noon and night.
It would be for a specific event BP, one that required isolation in a hard to get to location. If you watch it to near the end it's amazing how much has washed up on the decks. Anyone for sea food : )
I keep one of those inflatable kayaks just incase and it folds into an old paragliding harness so you can pop it on your back.
you will need a boat and the necessary skills to pilot the boat to the rig.
arent oil rigs by their very nature smelly and dirty places?
BP the rigs in the vid are anchored in an estuary so you’re only travelling a few miles. Off shore locations are a totally different situation, getting to and landing would be pretty complex. However some situations may require a more extreme bug out location.
I dont need to think about bugging out, I already have.
