Why do I prep (not to entertain Nat Geo)
As a follow on from the thread in General News about Nat Geoes assasination campaign against the credability of British preppers.
Why do I prep?
NR
Well firstly I do NOT prepare for 2000 year old Mayan, CIA employees who are actually NWO Chinese communists trying to cause global warming / cooling and so they can engineer oil and gas price rises because there is a hidden super earthquake fault line running under my garden shed which will cause an EMP burst that will ruin my tomatoes.
I do prep because I don’t like getting caught out by winter snow and ice storms, droughts, mass unemployment, galloping fuel price rises, fast rising food prices, climbing violent crime rates combined with an ever less effective police and justice system and escalating civil unrest.
I do prep because of the increasing threat of mass strikes, walkouts, riots and disruption caused by the bloated public sector who dominate many services like public transport.
I prep because I can see a clear and present threat from DOMESTIC and IMPORTED Islamic extremists and the threat they offer to my westernised Juda / Christian culture.
I prep because the failed concept of multi culturalism has turned huge inner city areas into no go areas where I fear to tread.
I prep because the threat from socialism and socialists continues not to better my quality of life but too further impoverish me and degrade my families quality of life.
I prep because this country is now grossly overcrowded and the social infrastructure is running at or above maximum capacity, from clogged roads, overcrowded trains, over-subscribed schools, failing health service, paralysed law and justice system, housing shortages.
I prep because much of our utilities are operating at capacity and many plants are life expired and the system is becoming unreliable but prices of water, gas and electricity continue to climb very fast.
I prep because food is becoming ever more expensive and harder to source, compounded by the impact of multiple multi-year droughts, floods and blights across the worlds food producing areas.
I prep because the NHS constantly fails to provide even a basic decent level of healthcare to my family.
I prep because our justice system is loaded totally in favour of the criminals (criminals both from public and state parts of society)
I prep because our political leaders serve only themselves and their SIGs and not those who vote for them.
So then I prep because our culture, nation, community and way of life is in terminal decline.

I have always tried to prep to the best of my ability because it is better to have something ready just in case something happens, than to have something happen and not be ready for it.
Failure is always an option.

I prep, because of boredom.....HAHA, I'm kidding!

Damn, beat me to it Scythe.
It's not for the publicity, not the meetings (RV's) with like minded souls, or to save money.
Could it be because I know that when the government is meant to come and save me and my own it won't?
Yep, probably that's it.

I prep because I learned to in Scouts, and because I consider it my responsibility to do so.
Find a resilient place and way to live, then sit back and watch a momentous period in history unfold.

RE: Why do I prep (not to entertain Nat Geo)
The reasons I'm prepping are
1. the nearest supermarket is twelve miles away, and I don't fancy a twenty four mile trip (usually in the rain) for a pint of milk for my tea.
2. If the weather really bad, or the ferry folk don't fancy it, no supplies come up from the big island. No teabags.
3. The power cable's only an inch thick, so any idiot /big storm could take it down- have a back up so can put kettle on.
So really I prep for a cup of tea whenever I want one.

RE: Why do I prep (not to entertain Nat Geo)
I hate the name `Domsday Prepers`,..I am not that in any way shape or form,... but I would call myself an `emergency preper`, it fits what I am doing far better.
I think that the biggest risk is the power going out, be it a solar flare or simply the fact that the grid cant keep up,.. if that happens I want to be ready
lets assume the problem are caused by a solar flare,.....if I dont mention the wee shop four miles down the road, then the nearest shop is 100 miles away with no real way of getting there even if I thought it was worth it, we have a small doctors, but no proper care for a 100 miles,...our nearest fuel is 14 miles away,.. but no power to pump it... nothing would come into our area be it food or anything else,..there are far few people here to justify an sort of fast responce,... we would have nothing for a long long time
So, it would be down to us, we have to be prepared,...and we will be
A major part of survival is invisibility.

RE: Why do I prep (not to entertain Nat Geo)
I've always just seen survivalism and prepping as the next logical step in personal insurance, EG most people have car, life and house insurance but they are not expecting to crash, drop dead or have their home burn down, BUT just in case it should happen....... They take out insurance, I just see prepping as insurance to ensure my families continuity in a crisis, disaster, conflict or collapse.
