Two disturbing trends are converging that should have every American rushing to get their ducks in a row. Something big is in the wind ... and it's anybody's guess when or how it will all go down. Here's what I'm talking about:

Trend #1: The government stockpiles over 1.6 billion rounds of ammo.

Since last spring, the federal government has purchased over 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. The Department of Homeland Security has been the biggest stockpiler, but other agencies are in on the game, too - including FEMA, the National Weather Service, and, believe it or not, the Social Security Administration.

That's five rounds, by the way, per U.S. citizen. That's a chilling thought. Even more chilling, though, is this scary fact: 450 million of those rounds are hollow point bullets. It's designed to expand when it hits the target, to slow down so that it doesn't penetrate the target completely, and to achieve maximum tissue damage and blood loss. This type of ammo is so destructive that it has been banned by the Geneva Convention. The U.S. military does not use it in any of its operations abroad - not in Iran, Afghanistan, or anywhere else. The only place it can be "legally" used is within U.S. borders.

But it's not the military, anyway, who has been acquiring this type of ammo. It's the Department of Homeland Security. And they don't fight wars abroad. They operate inside the borders of the U.S.

If this trend isn't disturbing enough, it's even more startling what has come to light in the past few days:

Trend #2: Military leaders are being asked if they will fire on U.S. citizens if ordered.

The story exploded all over Facebook earlier this week and quickly went viral. It was posted by Jim Garrow, a humanitarian who has helped rescue tens of thousands of Chinese baby girls from infanticide and who was a 2009 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. Garrow shared some extremely disturbing information, which was leaked to him by someone he describes as "one of America's foremost military heroes." Here is what he posted on his Facebook page:

"Obama is using a new 'litmus test' in determining who will stay and who must go in his military leaders. Get ready to explode folks. 'The new litmus test of leadership in the military is if they will fire on US citizens or not.' Those who will not are being removed."

Is it a coincidence that just one day earlier, on Sunday, January 20th, General James Mattis, head of the U.S. Central Command, was told "to vacate his office several months earlier than planned"?

So what's it going to be? Will civil unrest break out because of the awful economy? Will civil unrest break out because of Obama's current demonization of the Second Amendment and his stealth gun grab? Or will Obama engineer some kind of disastrous event as a pretext for imposing martial law (not to mention as an excuse for gun confiscation)?

RE: from Off The Grid News
Citizens buy around 10 billion rounds a year. The DHS purchases were not as large as your figures - they were about 20% with an option to buy over the next several years the rest at a certain price. Consider the DHS employs about 1/4 million people, probably third to a half in a front line capacity where they are armed. Say 100,000 maybe for arguments sake. They might get through 2000 rounds a year training, revalidation and general practice easy enough.

That is 200000000 rounds used a year. Just for training and practice and requalifying to carry a weapon. That is 200 million if you did not care to count the zeros. Bear in mind that the DHS is an over riding body for many agencies also. It is not a lot of ammo at all.

With regards to a government buying 1.6 billion rounds, how many or how few should a they buy considering they have around 1.5 million full time in the military and 1.5 million on reserve?

A billion is a thousand million, so 1.6 billion reserve is actually quite small. It is the amount of ammo that those in a full time military role would get through in a normal year - maybe even half. America has been fighting a couple of wars these last few years, so reserves will have dropped and stocks will need to be replenished. Added to that, how much ammo is 'gifted' to Iraq, Afghanistan, SK etcetera?

Now, part two, Obama asking commanders if they would order to open fire on citizens - all we have is, even it if it is true, second or third hand information. Could it be Obama asked 'Would you be deployed within the USA' which would be against the constitution, could he have actually asked about firing on citizens or could it all be made up - it could be any.

However, you must remember that if you took all of the senior military in the USA, you would have a couple of battalions, perhaps even a brigade. That would be about 5000 people who would be able to do the sum total of dick all. They are all over 35, most over 50 and most have not seen anything other than office service for 20 years.

It would be the privates and NCO's that would be called on to make the order so, and it just would not happen. A general might go against what he thought was right given the circumstances, asking millions of men to on families and friends? That is not going to play out, at least not in any way anyone giving the order would hope.

Says here the us govt. has ALREADY bought 1.4bn rounds.

Sorry, that's 1.4bn rounds they can't use as they're banned under geneva convention.

Funny, because when you follow its link to a source it:

A) Is a conspiracy theory news site

B) Says 'Department of Homeland Security is planning to buy a further 750 million rounds of ammo'

The important part there is 'planning'.

The 750 million comes from the statement of intent provided by the government to ammo manufacturers and suppliers, the synopsis of which is on the infowars website. It states:

Quote:“The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia anticipates awarding multiple award indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity (IDIQ) firm fixed price (FFP) contracts for commercial leaded training ammunition (CLTA) of various calibers for law enforcement officer firearms training courses at the following FLETC facilities Glynco, GA, Artesia, NM, Cheltenham, MD and Charleston, SC and to other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies. The Government guarantees a minimum of 1,000 rounds per year on each resultant contract. Contracts will be for a base year and four (4) 12 month option periods,”

You see, it is the option to buy 750 million rounds over 5 years at a low price. It is really nothing at all.

As to the hollow points - the Geneva convention states they cannot be used in war. Sure, they cause a lot of tissue damage, but 5.56 mil rounds cause just as much as they tumble and create massive cavitation.

So why would they want hollow points. Training. When you train in enclosed spaces with hollows, you are much less likely to get potentially life threatening ricochets and much less likely to penetrate or damage the fabric of the range. Fire off 100 FMG rounds at a wall and then 100 hollows at the same type of wall, tell me what is more damaged.

All in all, it may equate to 5 rounds for every man, woman and child in the USA, or 15 for every gun owner. I would say it was very optimistic that they would get away using 15 rounds per gun owner if anyone is taking this fanciful idea seriously.

How many rounds were fired by Feds at Waco or Ruby Ridge? Did it not work out at around 250,000 rounds per kill in Vietnam, it was the same in Iraq and I would wager the same in Afghanistan. This means two things:

1. If the US government are planning on killing citizens and gun owners, they need to up there order of bullets by an order of magnitude of two three to have any chance of doing the job - IE buy 10,000 times more bullets than they have bought.

2. A shit load of ammo has been fired in the last 10 years and needs replaced.

Of course, common sense and logic are not sexy...

I also think that this is possible re stocking of depleted stores,.. they are going through a tremendous amount right now, and have been for a while.

The US military has a different way of doing things to us,.. when we fire a machine gun,... say the GPMG,.. we are taught to `double tap`,..i.e. only two rounds at a time, better able to stay on the target that way,.... the Americans simply keep their fingers on the triggers,... they use vast amounts of ammo

As for the `would you fire on US citizens`,.. I doubt it, everything like this gets out fast [ like this ].... it would be a political death sentence,... not nessersarly for Obarma,.. but his party would never get back in power ever again,.... so this is a miss-heard rumour from somewhere
A major part of survival is invisibility.

Social Security Administration Explains Plan to Buy 174,000 Hollow-Point Bullets
The SSA’s Office of the Inspector General’s said it posted a new blog on the agency’s website, “Beyond the Numbers,” “as we strive to be a transparent and accountable government organization for all of our stakeholders.

“With those goals in mind, we thought it would be appropriate to address recent media reports regarding the organization’s purchase of ammunition for our special agents’ duty weapons,” the blog post states.

The blog states that the SSA has 295 special agents who work in 66 offices across the United States.

A conspiracy news site or an alternative news site, depending on your opinions.

Wiki leaks was described as a conspiracy site & look at it now.

Highlander, not having been in the armed forces I can't comment on rate of fire training etc.. but like has been mentioned earlier, they can't be used in a conflict. Perhaps BDG is right & they're just training rounds. Or perhaps the US govt. is doing a little prepping of their own.
