This is going to be interesting to assess, yes we can say to tourists don't go to muslim states, but lots of us have to go because of business or work reasons, preppers and public in general are not going to be allowed to take much gear with them, so much of the preps are going to have to be procedures etc.
Such as never opening the door to your room until you use the peep hole to see who is outside. Get one of this auxiliary metal or plastic door lock devices popular with travellers, looks a bit like a spring loaded wedge which when used stops door from being forced open from the outside. What about insisting on first floor rooms, high enough to keep thieves out but no so high you cannot jump from if something kicks off in the hotel Try to find embassy approved hotels with high security levels and systems. what other tips have folks got?

it said on the news the hostages heard the attackers speaking in ENGLISH.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

Hire an armed guard. Just make sure you pay him enough to ensure he's on your side.
Those roll up ladders would be handy Get a floorplan of the hotel (if not one in the room) Have a scout round the staff only areas - I you're spotted then play the dumb lost tourist Lighter, deodorant and selotape. You can take these in your luggage (not hand luggage) The alarm things that hang on the door handles - I conjunction with the door wedge A safe place to go to - and a way to get there.

BM
Most of those things I understand but Lighter Deodrant Sellotape?? Help me out here please (20 November 2015, 16:24)River Song Wrote: BM Diversionary. 2 cans of deo. Selotape lighter to one can, tape lighter button down (so it's always on) Tape deo button down Light lighter Face jet of fire at other can Run like billy-o Or just use as a weapon. Not much fun t have hold of when it goes wrong though Not many people run towards a fire. Can of deodorant in a microwave also works. Don't hang around for proof, just trust me Also note exactly where the fire extinguishers are located. If you have one in your room then even better. Unlikely though. Not just for putting out the fire you may or may not have started, but good for cover (powder and foam) and a weapon (spray and bludgeon) I held about 10 gypsies at bay with a powder fire extinguisher. Would have had the shit kicked out of me if not for that. Worth the cost I had to pay to replace it!
