Guys, I'm an amateur meteorologist myself and post on weather forums. Everyone to a man - or woman - knows that James Madden aka exactaweather is totally, utterly, ruinously discredited in the meteorology community and only gains a following among the non-weather-educated populace due to certain newspapers (i.e. the Express) seizing on his endlessly dire predictions.
This time last year he was saying the very same thing. What followed was record mildness for much of the UK.
That all said, a broken clock is right twice a day and there are some - albeit tentative - signs that things might get colder than usual this year, but likewise, there are other factors working against prolonged cold. Right now it's too early to say how bad the winter will be.
