Best OTC medicines to buy

There is a vast selection of OTC medicines you can buy at your local chemist and supermarket.

The usual ones we have are;
Aspirin
Ibuproven
Cough medicines

In my eyes they all look pretty much the same but I wondered if there were any that lasted longer than the others, where more potent or even better, both?

Any recommended products?
