Should be picking up enough timber from work today in Glastonbury to build my new wood store.
Any one got any suggestions on the best way to build one?
Oh yeh, I'm also picking up 20 ltrs of Red diesel for storage from a friend who owns a scrap yard.

Its needs a ventilated floor, walls and back with a waterproof roof with just enough overhang to keep rain off the drying timber, some damn good designs made from old pallets.

the last few days and this afternoon I've been bagging up foods for long term storage with o2 absorbers.

also had the dehydrator on non-stop since wednesday night so I have lots of veg to put through the vacuum sealer.

I've also been baking cakes. yes. not a usual prepper activity I know but I've been trying to make a fruit cake as cheap as possible that will last as long as possible. We all need a treat Big Grin

Ordered (and received) a SoulPad 500-lite canvas tent, along with a Frontier woodburner and flashing kit for the tent.
I can also use the wood burner indoors, or anywhere I want as it's portable.

The missus has agreed to come and learn archery with me (she's done it before so no doubt she'll be a better shot than I am!) so I'm looking into that at the moment. Give it a couple of weeks and I'll be buying us both bows.

There's an archery club at the bottom of the Old Basing Rec. If you go to the rec, you'll see tennis courts up near the side road. The other side of them is a cricket pitch. After the cricket pitch is the archery club. It's right next to Cromwell's Battery, or something like that. I can't remember the name of it (it was over 12 years ago that I lived there), but that's where I did archery (only for 2 years as a kid. North Hants Champion for 2 years running......okay, Junior Champion haha).

Anyway, about my preps, I have got myself a pretty Colt 'tactical pen' (what a stupid name!!! It's a fricking pen that doubles up as a kubotan, and has a built in glass breaker. It's not a Tactical-Anything. It's a pen with extra features. Calling it a tactical pen feels really retarded!!!), sorry about the rant. Along with my 'extra features pen' I also have a small stylus torch pen. It's small and pretty, but surprisingly bright. I'm trying to build a small kit of 'normal' items. Part of my EDC project. Next I want to get a couple more 'extra feature pens' and a lazer pen. The idea is that the lazer pen will be viewable from a much greater distance than the torch pen, so signalling will be easier. The 'extra feature pens' are so that I have better capabilities during everyday life......and airplanes.

a pretty minor prep arrived today but I'm pleased. I bought 4 of those reusable hand warmers that you recharge by boiling. because of a voucher I had I paid 22p each instead of £1.50. along with a hot water bottle and decent blankets they're good for getting your hands and feet warm in bed. a good low tech solution.
