Its' purpose is twofold.

1 - put's food on the table now. Plus if carefully preserved you can keep granma for quite a while.
2 - less people to feed now.

I'm not sure my method is likely to be widely adopted though.

Plus it has it's downside, some of these old buggers near me look a bit chewy.

Well Sir, if you wish to volunteer to help feed and care for these people using your own resources then good for you, its a very noble gesture, But my efforts involve caring only for those who are an integrated member of my family and prepping group. Even now there are millions of hungry elderly greeks whose pensions have been slashed are you going to help them or what about the 100,000 homeless we have in the UK?

I'm not being hard or nasty I'm being terribly realistic.

To make what?, the UK does not make anything any more, My good friends think a second, part of the all to real and painful problem we face just here in the UK is there are 64 million people living ever longer on an island that can only sustain 50 millions, We have declining numbers of workers to pay tax but ever more claimants, less and less jobs are savailable so even now kids with degree fight for jobs in mcdonalds. Last years Tottenham riots were more to do with frustration and desperation as with criminality. Young people facing their entire lives without jobs, living in tiny flats, fewer and fewer job opportunities and no chance of a decent life, THATS REALITY, THATS NOW !!
Do you feed the stranger today at the expence of your childrens food tomorrow?

To quote frankie boyle...

...Being asked by a politician to vote for him is like being told to "suck this dick, it might taste different" Smile

As to looking after the old and infirm ? isn't that what their families are meant to do ?
You have the right to hold any beliefs you want. You do not have the right to have those beliefs automatically respected

it sounds, the way you put it, that its all coming to a head fairly soon, i have always said the resourses of this country are like a rubber band, they will only stretch so far....so what happens after that?: anarchy, riot, revolution....only the strong will survive...the weak, the infirm, the UNPREPARED will not!! i dont really care about who is paying tax and who isnt, the fact is this country can only feed a small number without importing cheap food from abroad, if the EU collapses...as my "mate" would say"here's where the fun starts!"Tongue

I think that forced taxation is wrong at its core. You are being forced to help chip in for other people's "good intentions." Tax payers own a little piece of every bomb dropped on sheep-herders in Afghanistan, every bailout for the banks etc.
Socialism says that all are created equal, though in practice it ends up as all shall be kept equal.
Looking out for the old, weak and infirm is the job of charities, or their own family members. When push comes to shove, as it inevitably does, it's law of the jungle, just like that. We can pretend we care, but if you've had no food for 4 days, are thirsty, or run out of recreational drugs, you will fight tooth and claw to survive.
Everyone can put aside something for hard times. Maybe instead of buying alcohol or fags, or something else, put aside £10 a week, and build up a stockpile
Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field, Until there is no more room, So that you have to live alone in the midst of the land!

Liberals and Socialists feel a great sense of debt to their fellow men, but they prefer to use your money to repay that debt.
I care only for the welfare of the prepper community and their families, we should / must only help those willing to help themselves by prepping in advance.
