Cat amongst the Pigeon time... Not wanting to cause an argument, not taking sides but....If min wage was say...£12 an hour, would you feel the same? Maybe it's not a case of benefits being to high but wages being to low?

I'd agree that working is easier than raising GOOD kids

How many of these kiddy-farmers are actually raising their kids right? Once they're past 2 years old they're mostly plonked in front of the TV and ignored until they're old enough to start getting arrested.

I've got no problem having a welfare state for genuine people but not people who don't want to work.
If people don't want to work but milk the system make them have food stamps and make it so they can only buy essentials such as bread, milk, baked beans etc.

Spot on Rupert

Simple solution taht will work....

Why couldn't our well paid members of parliament think of this for themselves?

Politics is the reason. The first party to suggest this will be guaranteed to lose the next election. The benefit scroungers now make up a significant portion of voting age adults.

Child benefit needs to be scrapped straight away.
You could do it by saying that any child born after 2012 will no longer be entitled to any benefit, those already on the system will get the benefit they were promised but after that, No more!

One thing that does spring to mind though is State control of the population, Who would be happy to see this put into affect and is what we are seeing today the thin end of the wedge?

Maybe we should introduce a 'Use it or lose it' system of voting.
Don't vote for two years on the trot, lose the right to vote at all.

It's not really state control of the population to choose NOT to pay for shit parents to raise shit kids. It's not the same as introducing a strict 1 child rule or something, people can still have as many kids as they want, they just have to cough up the dough to raise them! ie. the way it should be!

This is true, but I bet if the party winning in the polls had a public policy to scrap off the welfare system, the parasites would be out in droves to vote!
It's the fear of the potential voters that will stop any major overhauling of the welfare system
