Root Vegetable Store Barrels
I found this on Youtube and I think it's a good idea to store not only root veg but other food stuffs that need to be in a cool, dark, air tight environment. What you you folks think?Huh

Its a good idea, but not a new one, my dad was doing this as long back as I can remember, he liked to store his carrots in one

I was thinking of making clamps, but the ground here is very wet and I reckon that the rats would get in at the veg, so the idea of using the barrels is rather good.

I found to victorian what i believe were cesspits but they were filled with stones and rotten compost. Turned one into a root cellar and the other into a storeroom. Both were about 6 foot square and 6 foot high.

Blimey UKS,
That was a good find. I wish I could have a proper root cellar but the water table is very high in my garden so I have just enough room at the raised top end to put in these barrels.
