Food Heads Up
At the moment, the forum is playing up again, but this is pretty important, so a quick heads up for everyone.

Things could be getting worse sooner than expected. We're upping our preps this year, dramatically.

Basically, we have been trying to get hold of certain things, e.g. spelt flour and a few other items, and suppliers are struggling to get any. Apparently the weather has destroyed much of the crops and things are not looking good at getting much of it.

This isn't a major issue. We can cope without the few missing items, but it really does seem like the damage done to crops is starting to raise it's head. Not sure whether anyone else has noticed similar. I'm hoping it's just effecting a few minor items, but I fear that it's potentially a sign of things to come...in the not too distant future.

RE: Food Heads Up
Spelt is normally grown as winter wheat - plant late summer on and harvest in Spring - we are now eating the crop that was grown over last winter so we are coming up to the resupply stages soon and previous supplies are tailing off.

Nothing much to do with weather, more supply and demand.

I get that, but usually there is year round supply of it. Which, it might only be local and the stores are lying, but apparently there is none available at the moment.

Crop failure does not need to be in GB for this situation to manifest, you import 40% of your consumables.

Bad weather 10,000 miles away can put you twitchy.

Much of America was frozen, while the UK was submerged (near enough haha) and Australia was burning up in a heat wave! The world's weather is changing dramatically, and MB is right, a change in the world's weather means a change in our supplier's weather...and everyone else's.
