RE: Smallpox in Chad
MB, you and I are so similar, we don't like bull shite and the paranoia merchants so often found on 'prepping' forums.

I'm re cataloguing my music collection before my move...this is a nice bit of music, read into the lyrics what you will

I got a kick out of that introduction.

The New York Times is one of our strongly biased socialist tabloid rags.

You can not believe a word they print.

Perhaps quackwatch mentions this report.

http://www.whale.to/a/null9.html.

If you require it I have a second link to the same report.

I don't know why I would need a second link for something I have no need for the first link.

I would just as soon connect the third link to the fifth ink, turn it 90 degrees and connect it to the seventh link then bend it back on the first link and see if it blows up.

It appears that this medical thing has some religious significance to you and there is not much need in trying to convert one from their beliefs.

Each person has the right to believe what they feel is right and if one wishes to avoid modern medicine then they have my support, one might even say my encouragement, in shortening their life span.

I just don't care.

Searches of CDC and WHO databases fail to provide any authentication of rumours regarding any naturally occurring recent outbreaks of smallpox, anywhere.

The possibility of an accidental release from a laboratory or weaponized use is incorporated in preparedness and response scenarios: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/5/4/99-0416_article

According to the Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_small...ed_Kingdom
The 1978 smallpox outbreak in the United Kingdom claimed the life of Janet Parker (1938–1978), a British medical photographer, who became the last recorded person to die from smallpox. Her illness and death, which was connected to the deaths of two other people, led to an official government inquiry and triggered radical changes in how dangerous pathogens were studied in the UK.[1][2] The government inquiry into Parker's death by R.A. Shooter[3] found that while working at the University of Birmingham Medical School,[4][5] she was accidentally exposed to a strain of smallpox virus that had been grown in a research laboratory on the floor below her workplace, and that the virus had most likely spread from that laboratory through ducting. Shooter's conclusion on how the virus had spread was challenged in court when the University of Birmingham was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive for breach of Health and Safety legislation.[6]

Researchers in Siberia are concerned that melting permafrost could release old pathogens into the environment

This was the resurrection of a 3 year old thread that had died a natural thread death and should have remained buried.

There will be no current information about it since it was obviously one of the items we now refer to as "fake news", or the case was isolated and drew no more attention.

It will take those interested about 45 mins to read, then consider this you can make it yourself.
For those who like to bury their head in the sand I shouldn't bother as you'll only upset yourself.
But towards the bottom says Anthrax pathogen is killed by its use.

Diversity of subject matter is good Phil ....but not for everybody ...but i am sure there is good information to be had , thing is Phil it take's all sorts of views on any forum .....in the early days of this forum most members were happy to help and even put a case together of an apposing view which has all but disappeared in the form of one liners and put downs and even worse they post most of the rubbish with nothing to gain knowledge wise but at the same time elude to knowing plenty .....its easy very easy to pick a thread to death... not so easy to put one together....that's why IMHA most of the great members have long gone , the penny dropped for them just like it just has for me....the common thread is survival and preparation for us all and sharing of information and helping one and other .

So to all remaining members its up to YOU , what forum do you want ....one with help and information or indifference and ridicule of its members ?....please let me know SS.
