RE: Behavior of the "Golden Horde" in the UK
most people have 3+ days worth of food in the house, the problems will start after that when they try to restock and find the supermarkets haven't had a fresh delivery, say a week before they get really worried, that's when the riots will start but by that time the supermarkets will be empty. no food in the shops and they've eaten all the food they had at home, that's when they'll really start panicking.Big Grin

As opposed to the "ooh the lights are off" horseplay? I imagine once the streetlights go out and televisions are dead, they will go berserk.

We can speculate all we like about what might happen - all we really know is that something 'might' happen but we do not know what or when.
My take on this is that the folks in the large towns and cities will find the going tough after about three to four days - assuming that generally supplies have slowed down or stopped and the electric/gas/water has become unreliable. Then you will get activity on the lawless front which will escalate after a few more days and this will then turn ugly if the authorities are absent or unable to cope in a reasonable fashion. Then we might see some kind of evacuation into the countryside - people looking for long lost relatives or not so long lost relatives plus the opportunists looking for a smash and grab situation.
Those of us who already live amongst the hedges and trees will have had advance notice of this through what is left of the media and any grapevine that has been set up in advance - so we could be ready for the 'invasion' should it happen. In any event my belief is that country folk will always be better prepared for what life throws our way normally and it would be the smaller close knit communities that will survive in better shape generally.

Oh that's great for you country dwellers, but here I am, a city slicker. So would you suggest the time to Bug-out would be before the 3-4 day period?

When to evacuate?

Early and fast!

Over here in the states we have considerable experience with mass evacuations and the trick to success and survival is to beat the heard.

That may require a false start (evacuation to discover it was a false alarm) but it beats being caught in one of the inevitable gridlocks.

Leave when the lights flicker, not after they go out.

After the 3-4 day period, the rich and powerful, elites, beautiful people will still be around and whatever security forces are available will be deployed to protect these areas such as the halls of govt, business, media outlets and the communities they live in. Comparable to the so called green zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yeah, not perfect, but possibly better than being outside the zone. Not talking about a refugee camp, more like having a skill or some knowledge that makes it useful for you to be there.

trouble with being in some sort of militarised zone is that should you want to get out (for whatever reason) you wont be able to and may be shot if you tried.
