I still think that an OFF TOPIC response and not engaging further with the diversion is the best way.

The report button will work best if reserved for major infringements.

LS is of course correct and if something is flagged with say an off-topic smiley, then if it is worthy of a separate thread/discussion, it gives the opportunity for any member to start up a separate thread through which the discussion can be continued without affecting the original thread. We have all seen S13 successfully do this on multiple occasions.
