Spring tuneup

RE: Spring tuneup
Fuel is a big issue for me. I have a modified S4 which I put Tesco Momentum 99 or Vpower in. I drove up to Scotland last week and had to make do with BP twice (only gets 21 MPG or 320 miles to a full tank).
The BP super makes a massive difference (negative) as the lower RON makes the car burn more. Modern engines use fuel to cool the cylinders as well as burn.
The Chevy we won't discuss.
But I'm thinking of getting an old british car (pre 60 to avoid tax, mot and get cheaper insurance) and drop a diesel engine in. I have Kerosene for heating oil which I would love to run it on but they monitor how much you buy apparently.
I have seen people using veg oil from supermarkets cheaper than from the pump and you don't smell like a chip shop driving along.
