Just for fun scenario

RE: Just for fun scenario
Mortblanc raises some excellent points as usual, particularly about the information held about us all and the huge surveillance system in place here.

I'd like to think that plans exist to destroy the data and CCTV system in a "Red Dawn" scenario, but somehow I don't think it would happen, the Govt is way too attached to all that information and would probably use it as a bargaining tool to get a better deal for themselves.

When you think about the data that exists, it's scary. Analysis of your "card" spending will tell an awful lot about you, then there are your driving records, phone bills, employment history, medical history, club memberships, vehicle ownership, ANPR movement records, tax history, education levels, web browsing history, all your parents records, spouses records, your childrens records, friends records. Add the next generation surveillance - cameras that recognize the way you walk, facial recognition, mobile phone tracking ( actually already happening ), contactless credit cards.

Imagine that lot in the hands of a dictatorship and you'll understand why some people protest about our surveillance society, but are usually shouted down by people saying "If you've done nothing wrong you've got nothing to worry about", and we're told it's all for our own protection.

The information in cyberspace can not be destroyed. It can always be retrieved, unless it is government crimes, then the server breaks down and that is sufficient explanation.

The government systems are hacked so often that most of the information you would wish to be destroyed is already being circulated on the deep web.

The U.S. has had the personal information of more than 6 million government workers or pension recipients stolen in the past 6 months. And that is just what they have admitted to losing. With those details they can trace every aspect of your life right down to your favorite brand of tea and the pennies in your piggy bank.

Apparently they do not know who hacked the system, why they hacked it, or what the information will be used for.

Your systems are in no better shape.

That is not paranoia, simply a statement of fact.

OK, in this scenario...

1. Desecure comms- make it look like they're just like everyone else's.
2. Hide specialist equipment /books (my chemistry gear)

Just slip into total non-descript Greyman mode, hopefully as I'm that out of the way nobody will notice. ( i mean, they* don't notice me now)

*Government agencies.

martial law is a non starter-the populace wouldn't stand for it and as I have stated TPTB don't have the manpower to control the entire country, governance is done on a general acceptance and if the population don't accept it there will be rioting on the street, the anarchists and the usual "rent-a-mob" will see to that. I agree with the comments about electronic data which TPTB have on each and every one of us(the people) but that has nothing to do with martial law that's just the times we live in-more's the pity. if anyone is concerned about that then go off grid, ditch the computer and the mobile phone, tear up your credit and debit cards and your loyalty cards and pay cash for everything. you'll have fun buying a house with cash or even buying a new car but that's the world we live in.

I struggle to believe we would get invaded and annexed without us pushing the big red button , I figure there wouldn't be much left to come here for after that , we always have at least one nuclear missile armed sub at sea often more than one , only a few countries capable of invading us , one we have a "special" relationship with one is as far away as you can get so logistically almost impossible and the other is Ivan the terrible we would surely look to Nato and our special friends if Ivan came knocking and I feel this would lead to either a very tense stand off or Armageddon......martial law imposed by our own government I can believe though.
Nothing is fool proof for a sufficiently talented fool!!!!
