Strings
I know a few of our members shoot bows, but I'd like to ask "how many of you make your own strings?"

RE: Strings
I have a reel of fastflite, serving thread and beeswax. However, my bowstring shows no sign of wearing out for a while, so I guess they'll stay in the old biscuit tin for a bit longer.

RE: Strings
Here's a video of how to make a Flemish twist string suitable for recurves and longbows/flatbows. Although you will see a lot of people using a string jig it is not neccessary. This is the same sort of string used back in the day, and uses nothing but friction to hold it together, plus a liberal coating of beeswax. The same twisting technique can be used to make cordage from nettles etc.

Hope you find it usefull.
