"Met Police assistant commissioner for specialist operations Mark Rowley said the investigation was increasingly pointing to the attack being "triggered by mental health issues".

He had earlier said the force was considering terrorism as a line of inquiry. "

The dead woman was an American tourist, very sad indeed.

HP, thx. for the update. Guess he fits the whacko description.

Wonder if his knife was UK legal? Lot of good knife laws do. About as effective as the gun laws.

Off the soapbox. Can you get arrested for carrying a cricket bat if not on the way to a pitch?

The vast majority of knives used by criminals are they type you take out of your kitchen drawer at home and yet ebay UK will stop you trying to sell or buy any knife legal and will stop you buying off ebay USA sites too which means we have to use non ebay UK knife providers who lets say...are not cheap lol.

In very basic terms you can carry a 3" blade or less knife, fixed or folding (but not locking) so long as you have 'good cause'

Cricket bat...in a bag with your 'whites' and pads on the way to a ground to play you'd be OK, walk round a shopping mall/centre and you'll get stopped I would guess.

A senior Police spokesman(s) said "Police chiefs insist there is no “shoot to kill” policy within British policing but accept that headshots are likely to “prove fatal” " wow, no crap Einstein.

The problem with these attacks is that unless the intelligence services get the plan first we have to wait until it kicks off which often means innocent people dying before the head shot Sad

Harry,

The "mental health" excuse is one that is routinely peddled out by the police (all over Europe) and the media in general.

In fact, it is peddled out within minutes of an attack taking place.

A police chief in Germany has openly stated that Muslim crimes and terrorism are to be covered up where possible, that includes the mas rape attacks in cities like Cologne, Munich, Hamburg and many other places. This directive came from very high up in the German government.
