Just picked up one of these Leixen VV-898E rigs max output is 25w, I'll do a more in depth review later this week.

Less than £60 delivered if you shop around.

Well, looking online, youtube there are a lot of reviews if you have a search.

IMHO, a great rig for the price, ideal for car or 'base' camping.

RE: Leixen VV-898E
YouTube reviews ate all well and god but its always better to hear a real life appraisal form someone who is in some way known.

So what's it like to operate?

What's the real power out

How's the deviation?

How true to displayed frequency is it?

What's its true frequency range?

What are on air reports like?

How's the audio out?

How easy is it to program?

Any damage in transit?

What's the manual like?

Would it suit a newbie, or does it require some underlying knowledge of radio in order to operate and program?

all that sort of stuff is what we want to know :-)
