I live in Bristol. Well, technically it's just outside Bristol, but I'm a city boy at heart. I understand what you mean about all the restrictions caused by where you live. One thing you can do, get a small camping stove and start building up some gas cans, which will cover the heat and cooking elements. Also, perfect for sorting out water.

With growing your own food, I know it's not going to be long sustaining, but it's still great fun, check out Window Farms. They look awesome, and it's cool to grow your own herbs and strawberries.

Brilliant! I spent twenty odd years living in Essex (Basildon).
I still go back now and again but less and less often as the years pass.
