Interesting. I thought it was best to get a starter culture from someone. Many are on sale.

This seems a very good backup way though.

The sourdough starter i started last week is now done and i will be using it in the next few days. I will let you know the results, its funny we went to a farm shop the other day and they had sourdough bread for sale at what for it £3.50 a loaf. I was told it was this price because of the work require to make the bread and it is the King of breads.

Made my first sourdough bread today from the sourdough i made at the start of this thread. Lovely
