steve is an idiot, its official
if it were me:
1.after 2 weeks where is my beard, why do i still have stubble
2.it would have been a military operation so where are the soldiers/vehicles and weapons
3.the other survivors acting was poor at best
4.that "infected" in the room, when that girl banged on the window steve didn't do anything.... WHAT THE HELL, you stop her and get the hell out of there AND make sure you close the damn door behind you
5. (before i forgot) the medic driving an ambulance, where was his weapon

Old ambulance aswel, when he woke up I would have got a weapon, seen a biro on the table

what you have to remember is this steve guy take everything for granted! he is lazy at best , a total couch potato and very gullible thats why he was picked for the show!
