A side step moment from looting though.

When or even would you take aid if it was offered to you?

Scenario:-
An event has happened, you've coped really well, no problems for you, total vindication in your prepping plans a complete and utter success. Yippee even!!!!!!!!!!

Sat at home, warm, snug, loads of supplies, even got some cash, and there's a knock on the door.
Totally above board, no con, genuine, no tricks.
Some government type says I've got food parcels, fuel if you want it, and shelter if you need it.

Apart from the chances of this happening being less than ZERO,
if it did would you take what's offered or smugly sit there content with your own prepping?

After all wouldn't there be someone more "deserving" or needy than you?

Yes, this is more or a morality question than anything else.
YES, i would take the food and the fuel, to do anything else might make people suspicious (that i've got more than they had), so to appear the same as everyone else i would say yes!! does that make sense??Big Grin
I'm with you on that one BP - wouldn't want to stand out from the crowd and draw attention to myself. Anyway depending how long the event lasts you might end up needing those supplies eventually. I don't think I'd take up the offer of sheltered accommodation though - I'd just say I prefer to stay in my own home.
Yup, I'd take it.
I like to think I would only take what I needed.

If we needed fuel, I'd say yes to fuel. If we needed food or water, we'd say yes to that.

If the event was over, and normal life would be returned, like the NY situation. I'd say....come back at the end of your day and if you have loads left, I'll have half a food parcel (to start stocking up again), but to be fair, I really don't think I'd even say that. Just thank them for their assistance, then say something like "I'm on a specialist diet and I need to keep that stocked up, so we're okay thanks." If the amount of stuff used was minimal, and food was above 50% of pre-event stocks, then I'd definitely say no.

I have no need for it, and although as a tax payer, I 'deserve' it. I believe that there would be people whom actually needed the supplies. A food parcel for me, might mean a few kids starving, missing medication, or something like that.

Would just make an excuse "We were on holiday, and the event didn't effect us. Thanks for the offer though." Or something like that.
I believe in keeping out of people's suspicions so yes I would accept the parcel but decline the accommodation offer.

It's true that someone else may end up missing it if I accepted it but my duty in a SHTF situation is to my prep group especially as there will be kids among us.

If I am able to help a neighbour out without drawing attention, then I would help them.
Beyond that is speculation and one cannot afford to let speculation dominate and possibly derail plans etc and thus endager their prep group.

Certainly food for thought.
Thanks for posting this.
Take the lot...
...and if you know of anyone who may be short on things (you have plenty of) then its an easy choice , if it helps you or someone who is near you then it cant be bad surely ?
Yes I would but not the accomodation I would be worried if I didn't accept I would be in the public eye
would not hesitate ...as bp said you would draw attention to yourself if you refused....and as already said you could give it to someone who truly needs it more
Yeah i would, it would add to what i already have and benefit my kids in the long run plus it would keep everyone thinking we had as little as them!!!
