i watched Jamie and jimmy's food fight last night , on it jimmy vacuum packed several meals and had then irradiated and buried them in a time capsule , the claim is that they will last for ever in perfect condition making it obne of the best ways of storing fresh foods and ready meals !
that set me thinking , if the claim is true why aren't the army's mre ration packs irradiated ? instead of lasting up to 25 years if correctly stored the would last indefinitely ! which would make it an ideal preppers food surely?
so i did a search and found this http://uw-food-irradiation.engr.wisc.edu/Facts.html
so if it was widely available would you add it to your preps or stray well clear of it , and can it really last forever?
