I know a lot of folk would love to move north, so I am going to put up a few houses that are for sale in my general area,... but I will only put up houses that are for sale for £160.000 or less, and that might do for a prepper [ i.e. on their own or somewhat remote from near neighbours ]... I can always get more information if anyone is interested

This one is about two miles down the road from me

This one being sold by the same people as the one above

This is a croft with its own land and shared land, not far north of Fort William
http://www.macphee.co.uk/property-detail...op_id=1339

not far from the one above, but this is an odd one out as it is in a village situation

I am not sure where this one is

Another from the same place as above
http://www.macphee.co.uk/property-detail...op_id=1221

I will add more as I find them
Checking out France already. But good thread. Will be fun to see who moves....NR ;-)
@ S13: Which region of France? I would suggest:

Pyrenees except the Basque part in the extreme west. My favourite bit is Ariege departement.
Northern Massif Central's higher areas.
Les Cevennes mountains N of Montpelier - the terrain was very good at protecting French Protestants from assault during persecution in the past.

The French Alps are too expensive and overcrowded for survivalist purposes, IMHO.
Was thinking Pyrenees.

Friends are looking at a 25 acre plot and us going halves with them. Not definite, but might be doable if they can get their part of the money soon enough.

Check the Legalities very carefully, its still Napoleonic Law in France and not quite the same as the English standard. In particular the French system gets very messy when you start looking at issues of inheritance.

Investigate setting up a company with your friends and purchasing through that.

Great leads Highlander,

There are some good opportunities there.

For our requirement, I'm not so keen on the ones that are semi-detached, not the one with a road outside its front door.
Was going to use a corporate layout simply for the insurance reasons.....and tax deductibility haha.

Thanks highlander if i win the lotto tonight i will be your new neighbourBig Grin
whilst I agree with you guy's that they are great locations, but....what's the land like for grazing and food production.......for sure it got to be better than inner city/city even urban areas.........tinned food, can (no pun intended) only go so far, personally, I'm looking north wales, this means I can stay within 30-40 miles of my current work place.......as we all know a semi decent job is hard to come by, happy home hunting
This house has just come on the market for £125.000, and I really would like to see a prepper buy it, it belongs to a friend of mine, so I know it well, if anyone is interested please drop me an Email

It is a remote place, hard to get to and even harder to get out of in the winter, access is either over the `Polloch Hill` which is a 1 in 4, or along a 15 mile dirt track,.. even if you use the roads you still have a mile or so after you leave the single track road
