society disintegrated years ago.
its all just individuals wandering around for their own purposes.
there hasn't been a society since the 70s.
or atleast there hasn't in the north east.
I still remember seeing traces of it in devon and yorkshire.

no, your right, "society"" dosent exist anymore, we now have a "whats in it for me" culture.

I noticed it declining in Yorkshire just as I left, but it was still pretty strong in devon when I left.
but I was in a fishing village it was bound to still have the sense of community.
I guess the rest of devon is just like everywhere else.
only the smaller villages still have a community.

its not bad here, but we are in RURAL Devon, people still speak and pass the time of day, they were speaking to us on day ONE whearas in Somerset it was 8 YEARS before people were actually talking to me...i mean the ordinary people, the "alternative" community took to us straight away.

in Yorkshire unless you've got 2 grandparents in one of the local graveyards your not a local.
