OPSEC among preppers is very important for this reason.

We already know that there is a breed of prepper in the USA that openly admits to prepping only with weapons with the express intent to raid others for their stores if it all goes TU.

That mind set must surely exist on this side of the atlantic too.

Worth bearing in mind.

It is a very short sighted mindset as eventually they come up against heavily armed real preppers, others of like mindset or run out of victims. They then have to fend for themselves and have spent little time on that eventuality.

this is the kind of thing I am hearing more and more, which is why I keep drumming into the missus about the importance of OPSEC and not telling people what we are doing or where we are going.
Well, if you do maintain a high level of OPSEC, how do you get a group together to try and establish more security in executing your plans?

I know it's a balance... but how do you get to it? Any hints or tips or do I just need to learn it from life experience?
most prepper groups in the UK will be family or extended family groups. at least to start with.

Kiril,

Yes ita a dilema. The point is to not just prople because they declare themselves to be a prepper. Personal geographic location details should not be shared without first assessing the person requesting them, and their motives
yet again I have to say, this is the very reason we have RV's so we can meet people away from home location on neutral ground, to meet like minded people and suss out those we could work with post shtf, and more importantly, those to be avoided at all costs post shtf.
Been reading this for five pages of senseless dribble.

To identify a "fake prepper" one must have a definition of a "real prepper".

What is that definition?

And what separates a "fake prepper" from a "real prepper", a "good prepper" or a "bad prepper"?

To establish proof of being a "real prepper", or a "good prepper", one must demand the other party violate all the OPSEC principles advised in the thread and actually show some stuff and give some details.

Otherwise one is dependent on the magnificent bull$&!t presented around a campfire or in an internet forum.

sometimes you can detect a fake prepper from the BS he talks, if he talks enough-and most of them do- you can spot the lies easily enough.this is better accomplished face to face than on an internet forum.
