The download is in azw/azw3 format so now figuring how to get rid of the DRM so I can convert to PDF and read on other devices..

azw/azw3 appears to be the format favoured by Amazon when you do their downloads for the Kindle. The DRM is the imbedded restriction preventing you from eg converting/backing it up to something like a pdf file so you can use it conveniently on any computer running Adobe etc.
Thanks Devonian, had a look at a few of these conversion sites before but didn't like them cos you had to upload your ebook and they send you the result via your email address. I'm sure they work fine but something about that didn't gel with me. Sorted now though..
