RE: Food, starting from scratch - Straight Shooter - 14 February 2013 hello from south wales.......buy yourself a dehydrator bout £38.00 ...got mine a few weeks back off amazon....its brilliant ...not stopped using it you will reduce the size of stuff eg oranges 2 big bags from the market say 4 k ...fitted into glass jar ...the range of stuff you can dehydrate is huge...meat aswell...can,t reccomend the process enough GO GET ONE RE: Food, starting from scratch - Scythe13 - 14 February 2013 For me, if you eat it, and it'll last a while, buy it and store it. If it takes a while to process into edible form, but lasts years, then it's a good purchase....providing you would eat it. Really, it doesn't need to be more complex than that. Tins, dried, freeze dried, MREs, jars, pickled, or anything like that is a fair plan. One thing worth checking out, self supplying. Grow your own, and learning to forrage. Also, planting trees in areas that you frequent. I know a guy that has planted over 30 apple trees in and around his location. RE: Food, starting from scratch - Straight Shooter - 14 February 2013 good advice S13.....the trees real cool RE: Food, starting from scratch - SecretPrepper - 14 February 2013 (14 February 2013, 21:28)Megatron Wrote: Any suppliers that you recommend? http://www.eagle-outdoors.co.uk/mountain-house-uk.html?gclid=CO6CpoupjrUCFfHJtAodExMAfg most sites choose what tins go into the discounted mnthly groupings, this site lets you choose. i have yet to buy from them (awaiting payday) but it looks good. unfortunatly we don't get it nearly as good as the US where they are cheeper and have a greater variety. the spaceman ice cream is amazing you can get it cheap off ebay or amazon and i have eaten it a few years out of date the stuff i have in the spare room i got from the US but i had to pay a crazy amount for customs ![]() RE: Food, starting from scratch - NorthernRaider - 14 February 2013 Have you seen this UK based MRE manufacturer and supplier, scroll down the page til you get past the ready meals http://www.lookwhatwefound.co.uk/Page/ProductsByCategory.aspx?CatID=0 RE: Food, starting from scratch - Mosstrooper - 15 February 2013 (14 February 2013, 23:12)NorthernRaider Wrote: Have you seen this UK based MRE manufacturer and supplier, scroll down the page til you get past the ready meals ive used these for a year or so as a boil in a bag and they work reasonaly well, takes about 7-10 mins with meths. the content seems to have changed recently more liquid and less chunks ![]() |
