You might not need to upgrade the masks, just upgrade the filters.
And remember that the life of those filters is measured in hours, not days or weeks.

I remember this the first time round - it struck a chord because I was born and bred in Sheffield where it was filmed. I thought it was pretty realistic, much better than some of the more modern films, where society of some sort appears to recover pretty quickly. As in Threads, I think it will take years or decades to get back to any semblance of normality. And don't expect TPTB to help - they will be too busy looking after themselves, to the detrement of the masses.
