I'm not sure there is too much of a difference - the aim is the same at the end of the day. Personally I hope to survive any crises and I guess I could call my preparations to that end "prepping". Let's face it, crises can whack you over the head at any time - even a power outtage can be a bit of a disaster for some. It's all relative.
