RE: Feeling unprepped and inadequate - Timelord - 7 September 2012 Most small arms fire will go right through the side of a shipping container. I'm sure theres a few milling about but not enough and I vote same as n.r. the l1a1 was the best rifle I used, the l85a1 falls apart if you drop it and the a2 is just as bad. If you look at a news reports of rebels in africa you'll see loads of them with l1's I wanted to swap my l1 for one of the thousands of fals we brought back from the falklands but we couldnt shame that because the fals auto fire is brill. Broke my bleeding heart I have a wood furnature one for a while then they promted me so i ended up with an SMG, eventually when i ended up in the LI I got the black plastic furnature version, Oh God almighty what an amazing gun, Could theoretically hit the soviets long before they could hit us, then bugger me within about 2 years they had gone and we got the mickey mouse L85A1 piece of shite. Y'know the bloody Brit govt even bought some NEW FN FALs and gave em to the rebels in Sierra Leone whilst our lads had the L85 junker. Envy of what others have is an entirely capitalist trait and is the primary driving force behind capitalism. A true socialist may see a billionaire and think "I'd like that money spread to the people", but that's very different from being personally envious and wanting it himself. Whereas a capitalist sees that billionaire and thinks "that's what I want! I want to be him!" and tries to achieve it for himself and only himself due to his personal envy. RE: Feeling unprepped and inadequate - Skean Dhude - 8 September 2012 Sorry. I think we may have to agree to disagree here. I have never been envious of others. Trying to better yourself is a capitalist trait. Envy is a very negative trait. RE: Feeling unprepped and inadequate - Tigs - 9 September 2012 awwww! the old fal slr it was the back bone of NATO only the Americans didn't use it in one shape or another !! they had to have an American weapon the m14 ! as for 5.56x45 mm (.223) not much better than a .22lr total crap were as the 7.62x51mm has 4 times the kinetic energy and can drop a target at 800m with ease , hated giving up my l1a1 and used it as long as i could , hated the individual weapon from day one , even after it was fixed and became the sa80 or the l85 if you tried firing it left handed you got a face full of brass !! ended up using the c7a2 right up till i left the army but was a comprise more ammo over stopping power , the yanks love more ammo its the way they are trained spray and pray ! were as we train to hit the target first time , the fn scar -h ( new fal) is looking like a great weapon and could mean that nato goes back to the future , tho it is looking at the 6.8x43mm as a comprise more stopping power than the 5.56 and lighter than the 7.62 so more ammo can be carried RE: Feeling unprepped and inadequate - Paul - 9 September 2012 We used to share a long range with the yanks so for fun they shot our SLR's and we got to play with their garden guns. One often heard comment was "Jez, what a kick!" Watching them trying to kneel or stand with one was hilarious. You're smack on with the US army spray and pray Tigs, but shooting with one detachment of marines was an eye opener, most of them loved the SLR AND COULD ACTUALLY SHOOT! |
