I wish there was a course round my area. I sneak my bow up into my local woods and waste a few arrows on trees etc up there. I'm not a bad shot but I know I can be better with help

That's true with most bows, but if you incorporate a modern "peep" sight into the string the anchor point becomes less important. My lad put six arrows into a 4" group at 30yds the first time he used my compound bow. Admittedly the bow has a very definite "stop" so it's difficult to overdraw it, and he was using a trigger on a wrist strap.
