We get to practice this on a regular basis during the winter, we get quiet a few power outages... its so bad that we both have a torch next to our chairs permanently.
We just get the candles going, or paraffin lamp, get out the gas cooker, I will check on other lights, but the lights of the village four miles away are on a different circuit, so they are often still on when we are off and visa versa,... but its nothing we normally worry about, the alarm is on the phone, so if that's working alls well
