Thanks I'm glad I bumped this tread.

I'm looking to understand what is your opinion of the calibres I'm likely to come across after an event. What are the most popular calibres in the UK or what do you have on your FAC?

I'll start with what is on my FAC;
.22LR
.223 Rem
.243 Win

I also have a 12G and am currently looking at purchasing a 410 in shotgun calibres.

Without a doubt the three calibers you list are the most common in the UK.

I've owned all three and they will allow you to shoot any UK legal species (subject to conditions on your FAC) Also 99.9999% of gunshops will stock ammunition in these calibers.

Myself I enjoy reloading and currently have,

.22 FAC air rifle
3 x .22LR
1 x .17HMR
.222 Rem
6mm PPC
6mm BR
6.5 Creedmore
& a .357

I reload for all but the rimfires. Reloading is in itself an excellent hobby and allows me to escape "she who must be obeyed" for hours at a time Smile
