Survivorman - Skvez - 25 August 2011

The Survivorman series (three seasons) is not well known in the UK but is one of my favourite survivor/wilderness series.
For each ~42 minute episode Les Stroud goes out into a different wilderness scenario and survives for six or seven days totally alone, filming the whole thing himself. Usually with little or no equipment except what he would be reasonably expected to have with him in that environment.
So for instance in the very first episode he simulates taking a wrong turn while cycling in the Arizona Desert he survives using only what he is wearing and bits scavenged from the motor bike.
It really highlights that 'living off the land' is more often than not an exercise in starvation.

Definitely worth a watch, available from Amazon (Region 1 only unfortunately).

RE: Survivorman - grumpy old man - 5 September 2011

the series has been on sky i think the discovery channel the same kind of thing as bear or ray.
love watching them all it shows that survival is a mind set thing

RE: Survivorman - Lord T - 5 September 2011

The only problem with this is you get so much information that you have to watch them several times and that takes up so much time by itself. Unless you live this way you will never remember it all.
