deer hide - bowdrill - 7 February 2012 had my first fallow deer the weekend (plenty of meat again ) so will be butchering tommorrow i will be trying to keep the hide has any one done this and any advice will be a grate help thanks b/d RE: deer hide - Scythe13 - 7 February 2012 That's so cool! I really want to do what you're doing now mate. The only knowledge I have is that of Ray Mears or Bear Grylls. I know you need to make bracelet cuts around the ankles, another cut from the anus to the solerplexus, but the rest....not a clue mate. Trial and Error Give it a go, if it doesn't work keeping the hide, eat up, and find another one. RE: deer hide - bowdrill - 7 February 2012 the skinning bit is ok done that loads of times its the drying time etc stuck on that but thanks any way b/d RE: deer hide - Skean Dhude - 8 February 2012 It is messy and all icky and like everything else the instruction sheets don't show the true story. But lie everything else practice makes perfect.
