potassium iodide and nuclear power - mikebratcher69 - 12 February 2012 Aparently potassium Iodide isnt any protection with a dirty bomb, only conventional risk so to say, still relevent and should be part of our kit if you dont already have it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_iodide read this section Thyroid protection due to nuclear accidents and emergencies. so with that in mind I thought I'd look up the uk's nuclear power stations and their locations. http://www.british-energy.com/pagetemplate.php?pid=82 I think we could use the Fukashima meltdown in Japan as a reasonable model of what to expect should meltdown occur, see here http://noorslist.wordpress.com/2011/06/25/fukushima-nuclear-disaster-and-effects-of-radiation/ and here 30km exclusion zone http://www.japanprobe.com/2011/04/05/iitate-outside-the-exclusion-zone-but-still-a-ghost-town/ so if we take the Japanese 30km exclusion zone from the reactor, 1)Do any of us fit into one of the probably similarly imposed 30km exclusion zone should one of the British reactors melt down? 2)How many sheeple do we think are in the exclusion zone areas? 3)Will our bols be no go? 4)Do we need to re evaluate our bol locations just in case? 5)stay or go? heres pics of chernobyl 25 years on http://acidcow.com/pics/16330-chernobyl-today-52-pics.html Now with the uk being such a small place and the wind blowing from every direction as it does, I dont think anywhere would be safe in the uk post meltdown. With that being the case would the Government of the uk actualy impose a Fukashima style exclusion zone at all, or just leave us to it to fight off radioactive zombies? RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - Timelord - 12 February 2012 Potassium iodide is protection against radioactive particles accumulating in the Thyroid gland. It does not matter from what source. It does not protect against general external body irradiation. It is the internal dose, say from the thyroid or ingestion that your body has no defence against. Externally the body can tolerate a measured amount depending on other variable factors. A dirty bomb will have much more localised effects and so be leass threat generally. More of an economic catastrophy and a terror weapon. Effective all the same. TL. RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - bigpaul - 12 February 2012 our main reason(except for family) for leaving Somerset and coming HOME to Devon was because of the new reactor currently under construction at Hinckley Point, we now have The Quantock Hills and the whole of Exmoor between it and us!! RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - Timelord - 12 February 2012 A wise man! RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - Melissa15 - 12 February 2012 I've been meaning to find locations of nuclear power stations but hadn't got round to it, so thanks. Where have any of you bought iodide tablets from? I'm new to this forum, so hi! RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - Timelord - 12 February 2012 May be of interest for you. TL. Where have any of you bought iodide tablets from? Hi Unless your willing to take your chances on the quality of what is sold on the net, they cost way to much, well actually they don't,, 10 tabs from a chemist cost £20 but to have them delivered to the chemist cost another £100, I asked in what was my local chemist in London just before the Japan event, so I bought Kelp Iodine tablets instead, at least you can take that regularly and build it up, you can also get Iodine some thing? ( I'll look it up) but I couldn't find it. I have a Iodine Tincture, also Iodine itself can apparently in emergency be painted on to the skin and it would be absorbed in to the blood stream ,but that's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other coz thats ment to toxic , plus I believe the potassium Iodide tablets have a short shelf life, £120 is a lot of money to spend only to find they were out of date when needed. I have some info stored some where I'll try find it. RE: potassium iodide and nuclear power - Clare - 22 April 2012 Hi everyone. A newbie here. I'll introduce myself on the correct forum. I have found a place that sells kelp extract which has 150mcg of iodine. It is a Guernsey company called healthspan. i've used them for years and they've always been extremely professional. http://www.healthspan.co.uk and look for kelp extract. And here is a little of what is said about it. (Since I'm a newbie, hopefully this information will be relevant). Kelp Extract Tablets 150mcg Natural Source Iodine 4.4 Reviews (5) - Create a Review An oceanic plant, Kelp 'Laminaria' contains concentrated sources of minerals and nutrients including Iodine, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium and Iron. Kelp is best known for its high Iodine content, a chemical that plays an essential role in the body. Because Iodine cannot be stored by the body it must be obtained regularly via the diet. Healthspan Kelp is sourced from clean unpolluted waters and each tablet contains 180mg standardised Kelp Extract, providing 150mcg of Iodine. By the way, the US Government has stockpiled HUGE and I mean HUGE amounts of radiation tablets in the past month or two. They obviously know something and not telling us. The MSM (mainstream media) also won't tell us either so it's alternative media info for me. Also the US Govt. has bulk purchased huge, huge, huge amounts of hollow tipped bullets. So much so it is almost impossible to buy any. Why? They foresee civil disobediance coming very soon. (Yes I know it is a bit off topic but still finding my way around). |
