Laser 2000 £38.98 a cheap food dehydrator, I have had this a few years and used it to dry meat, fruits and even made powder egg from fresh eggs with it, the food will last for years, below I made some banana sweets.

You get five racks, lay the food out with gaps to get good air flow.

This is good spacing, when you buy banana buy one pack larger and one pack small and you want them slightly hard, the reason for the size difference is outer circle use the larger and inner smaller.

10 hours later and they are done.

This last pic I tried to get a close up to show how dry the inside is, but your know when they are done when you can snap them, try not to over dry as they will harden as they cool.

I've got one too. Like W&D said for the price it's great. I found the best results are obtained by rotating (bottom to top) the trays every 45mins or so. Funny this came up today, I'm just about to dry some mushrooms. I was lucky enough to find a couple extra trays on ebay a while ago.

TOF how do you find it works with the two extra trays?, I think maybe I should get another and try with extra trays.

I don't do rotating and they all dry the same I just leave it running around 10 hours, with most things, do you rotate because you now have two extra trays?

RE: Food Dehydration good price. - TOF - 10 March 2012

When I first got it, I found that things didn't dry evenly. Some trays went brown and overdry while others were OK. So A friend recommended rotating the trays and it solved the problem. I can dry 2lb of frozen Sweetcorn in about 7 hrs and Mushrooms in 6. There doesn't seem to be any difference in drying times etc with the additition of the extra trays. Just a note. I tried to get some extra trays from Westfalia and they don't offer them. I just got lucky on Ebay. Someone must have had one that died and sold the trays. I think trays from one of the Nesco models may fit if that helps.
