Useful traps - Walker - 18 March 2012

Here is a selection of traps that I have used and have found to be very effective. They are live multi-catch traps which aren't too difficult to build and when deployed in a good location can yield good returns of meat over a long period of time. Best of all being live catch the meat and pelts are totally undamaged.

Also a great book which tells you how to make them all

Excellent site AND you can see how they're made, so if your handy you can make them yourself.

i just had this mad thought. lay netting on the floor around a rabbit denned area, wait until the rabbits are over the net and pull the draw strings up-wards. lay netting over their burrows after their out on the green then chase them back.

14acre traps are good basic designs and I've built a few for static sites but not something I'd want to carry round in my rucksack.

So what happens if you are out in the field rough camping or TSHTF time and you've had to bug out and you fancy bunny or "bird" 4 tea?

A learned man once told me (and the phrase is used a lot on the forum) K.I.S.S. Keep it stupidly simple.

It may be basic but I'd advise folk to concentrate on learning how to snare "proper like".
Not only using brass snares but also things like fishing line, para-cord, and bailing string.
Stuff you can find easily.

Go advanced if you want i.e.
Learn how to use weights and springy saplings to 'dangle and strangle' prey or how to dig simple pit traps

But K.I.S.S. it first guys and girls.
