Its a Hindu religous icon I think, certainly from the Indian sub continent and nowt to do with Nazis.

There are many v.v.similar variations on this symbolic design that have been used around the world since ancient prehistoric times - usually in the physical form of rock art or cave paintings. It's original or even its many previous earlier incarnations will never be fully understood. Only an interpretive guess can be made. One thing that is known from primitive cultures is that the cross symbol usually represents the sun. The sun was the most common and most important ritual entity throughout the vast stretch of human history. One example of this symbol can be seen in rock carvings on Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire.
